HOW DO CANNABINOIDS WORK?

Cannabinoids are produced naturally within the human body through the endocannabinoid system. Neurotransmitters send messages throughout the nervous system ultimately affecting areas of the brain that play a role in memory, concentration, coordination, pleasure, as well as sensory and time perception.

CB1 and 2 receptors respond to cannabinoids in a way that alter normal brain function patterns. When the MOST popular known cannabinoid, THC, is introduced into the endocannabinoid system, you can expect it to affect a person’s memory, balance, coordination, and reaction time. When this happens, it is advised to not operate heavy machinery, drive a vehicle or engage in high risk physical activities.

THC is still the only cannabinoid derived from a plant that has intoxicating effects and is known to stimulate an increase in the release of dopamine, which incites feelings of pleasure. It is also known to enhance colors, make music more vivid, activate sensory perception and intensify feelings.
