We have previously gone over some of the herbs you can vaporize to get your day started and ended the right way, but you might be wondering what other options you have for what you can vape (and what you should NEVER try vaporizing). In this article, we will go over a few more creative options to give you a variety of things you can vape and switch up your routine. Start your day right like what is shown on the video below.
One of the more common things you can find around your household that you can actually vape would be Thyme. Normally found in your spice rack, thyme is an interesting herb to put into dry vaporizers and something you probably wouldn’t think of right away. Unlike some of the other substances that you will find on this list, vaping thyme actually has some benefits. Some of the perks to vaping Thyme include hypertension relief, a reduction in your blood pressure, and even relief from respiratory conditions. Like catnip, thyme is another herb that you can add with cannabis to enhance your buzz and conserve marijuana. Sounds great to me!
Passionflower can be found growing naturally in parts of North America, and is highly prized for its sedative qualities. When vaporized it can add tranquillizing and slightly sedated qualities to the experience. Obviously, this is best used at night when you are getting ready for bed. This herb actually does not require very high temperatures, so you can start around 154°C (or 309°F) and go up from there.
Another herb you may not have heard of that you can vape is Damiana. The plant is a native of Mexico and will add a strong aromatic taste to your blend. According to anecdotal reports Damiana can induce a mild buzz, but nothing near that of cannabis. In herbal medicine, Damiana is often used to strengthen the nervous system, help with urinary infections, reduce menstrual cramps and act as an anti-depressant. It is also thought to act as an aphrodisiac, and has been shown to increase sexual activity in both male and female rats. We recommend vaping this herb around 190°C (or 374°F).
Most people are familiar with green tea as being a healthy drink that can gives you a practical increase in energy. It has become quite popular, especially over the past decade. However, not as many people know that you can also vape green tea while it is still in its herb form. By vaping green tea at around 190°C (or 374°F), you can receive its many antioxidants, get better brain functionality, decrease your risk of cancer, experience fewer headaches and even lower your depression. If you want a more subtle, soothing experience, then slightly lower temperatures should be used, like 178°C (or 352°F). The buzz gained is reported to be less than if you had an equivalent cup of coffee, but the onset is much faster.
Another tea that you can vape, is Yerba Mate. Also known as Mate Tea, this energizing plant vaporizes best at around 190°C (or 374°F). Much like green tea, it is used by itself or as part of a mix to act as a stimulant, inducing a pleasant and energizing buzz.
The Chinese herb ginseng can also be vaped, to the surprise of many people. While it is often used to treat sexual dysfunction in men, it also has many other benefits, for both male and female vapers. These include an increase in energy, a reduction in anxiety, lower cholesterol, a smaller risk of diabetes, a reduction in stress, and overall relaxation. A good temperature for vaping ginseng is 190°C (or 374°F).
Valerian is a well-known sedating herb that has helped many conquer sleepless nights. The vaporization of valerian is believed to induce much stronger effects than taking it in pill form or as a tincture. It mixes very well with lemon balm and other sedative herbs such as hops, passion flower, skullcap, or things similar to these. This herb is best experienced at the higher temperatures, so you can begin at around 215°C (or 419°F).
Sage has a nice mint-like flavor and actually has antiseptic and estrogenic effects. The effects are said to be good at treating the symptoms of a cold, such as relieving the severity of a sore throat. We recommend vaping around 190°C (or 374°F).
Nutmeg might sound like a weird choice to vape, but you actually might find that you will get some surprising results. Simply grind some nutmeg (not too finely!), add a few drops of water to make it wet (not too wet!), and add this to your vaping products and you will enjoy the effects. The taste is not very overwhelming like you probably would have expected, and it will get you buzzing for a couple of hours. Since it is legal and easily accessible, you can give this very unexpected vaping product a shot and enjoy the light to medium high it will provide.
Known as the “Dream Herb”, Calea zacatechichi is traditionally used as an aid to induce and enhance lucid dreams. It has been described to induce an extremely sedated and slightly hallucinogenic high when vaporized, a high that is more potent than what is induced by other forms of taking it. It has the potential to help you drift off to sleep and explore your dreams. To start this process, turn your vaporizer on to 190°C (or 374°F) and vape away!
St. John’s Wort‘s natural anti-depressant qualities made it a very popular herb in the recent years. Anecdotal reports suggest that these can also be obtained through vaporizing, which brings out more sedative qualities. St John’s Wort has been reported to decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills, so make sure do not use this herb if you are utilizing those! The temperature range for this herb varies, so you can vape anywhere from 100-150°C (or 212-302°F). We did this in one of our Ascent vaporizers and it hits just as well with the IQ vaporizer. Check out the video below.
Now that you know some more eclectic choices for what you CAN vape, how about what you CAN’T and should NEVER vape?
Cheetos. We would definitely not recommend placing this orange snack food in your vaporizer, any time in the near future. While the other herbs on our list can assist with getting rid of headaches, we very much believe that this would do quite the opposite for you. We would recommend sticking to ingesting this the old-fashioned way: mastication.
Ramen noodles. Everyone is familiar with these. While they can provide a cheap way to satisfy your hunger and come in many satisfying flavors, we would not recommend placing this into your vaporizer – not even the oriental flavor!
The industry of mod vapes and vaporizers are evolving and new products are discovered every day. It is not only the best alternative to smoking, but it is also a great way to explore new flavors and enjoy unique effects every time. As with anything, take caution when vaping something unfamiliar to you and most importantly: Enjoy vaporizing your favorite herbs!
