DaVinci IQ3 Review: The Best Conduction Vape in 2026?

The DaVinci IQ3 is the flagship dry herb vaporizer in the IQ lineup — the device DaVinci built to define what a premium portable conduction vaporizer should deliver. At $299 with a 10-year warranty, it sits above the IQ Core ($199) and well above the MIQRO-C ($99.99), and positions directly against the Pax 3 and Storz & Bickel Crafty+ in the premium portable tier.

This review covers the IQ3 from first use: what's genuinely excellent, where the tradeoffs are, and who it's built for.

What's new in the IQ3 vs previous IQ models

The IQ3 represents a substantial step forward from the IQ2 on three fronts: vapor cooling, airflow control, and oven capacity.

Cool Core™ system: The IQ3 introduces a spiraled zirconia-glass vapor cooling element that reduces vapor temperature by approximately 50% compared to previous IQ models. The practical result is vapor that arrives at your lips noticeably cooler and smoother than any previous DaVinci portable. The Cool Core is removable for cleaning and is the IQ3's most significant engineering addition.

Air Dial™ upgrade: The IQ3's Air Dial increases air velocity by 70% over the IQ2's version. Four distinct airflow positions let you tune draw resistance from tight and dense to open and airy. For conduction vaporizers, airflow control is a meaningful session variable — denser draws run hotter and produce thicker vapor; more open draws cool vapor faster and produce more even extraction.

33% larger oven: The IQ3's oven holds 0.7g of material, up from 0.5g in previous models. For solo sessions that's often more than you need — dosage capsules (0.2g each) are the cleaner solution for smaller loads. For group sessions or extended use without packing, the larger oven is genuinely useful.

Design and build quality

The IQ3 continues the IQ design language: brushed aluminum chassis, compact form factor, and a distinctive LED grid display on the front face. Build quality is excellent — the aluminum body has no flex, the battery door opens and closes cleanly, and all removable components (Cool Core, mouthpiece, flavor chamber) seat with satisfying precision.

Colors: Gunmetal, Onyx, Sapphire, Amethyst. The flat zirconia mouthpiece keeps the profile low. For water filtration use, a 10mm Zirconia Water Tool Adapter (sold separately) connects to any 10mm water piece.

Vapor quality

The IQ3 is a conduction vaporizer — herb sits in direct contact with the glass-lined zirconia ceramic oven walls, and heat transfers through contact. Conduction produces denser, fuller draws than convection but requires some technique: a full pack, a slow steady pull, and patience with the 30-second heat-up.

The zirconia/glass vapor path is where the IQ3 earns its flavor reputation. No metal, no plastic, no glue anywhere in the vapor path. Zirconia is chemically inert at vaping temperatures, which means the vapor you taste is the herb — not the device carrying it. At lower Smart Path temperatures (SP1, SP2), the terpene expression is exceptional. Flavor fidelity is among the best available from any portable conduction vaporizer.

The Cool Core makes a real difference. Compared to the IQ2, vapor is genuinely smoother and cooler at equivalent temperatures. Users who found previous IQ models harsh on the throat will notice the improvement immediately.

Smart Paths and temperature control

Precision mode: Set any temperature from 32°F to 430°F in 1°F increments.

Smart Path mode: Four preset temperature ramp profiles (SP1–SP4) that gradually increase temperature over an 8-minute session:

  • SP1 (low) — flavor-first, light effects, ideal for new users
  • SP2 (low-mid) — sociable, active, good everyday starting point
  • SP3 (mid-high) — fuller body effects, relaxing
  • SP4 (high) — maximum extraction, intense

All four Smart Paths plus precision mode are fully available on-device. The DaVinci app (Bluetooth) adds customization and session tracking for users who want it.

Battery

The 21700 lithium-ion battery is user-replaceable — approximately 90 minutes of continuous use per charge. USB-C charging in-device. The IQ3 can also reverse-charge other USB-C devices. Carrying a spare 21700 (widely available, not proprietary) means unlimited session time away from outlets.

How it compares to the IQ Core and IQC

The IQ Core ($199) shares the same zirconia/glass vapor path and Smart Path system but omits the Cool Core, Air Dial, and larger 0.7g oven. It uses an 18650 battery (60 min vs 90 min). The IQ Core is DaVinci's everyday device; the IQ3 is the connoisseur's device.

The IQC ($199) adds Bluetooth app connectivity and dual-use (dry herb + concentrates) but omits the Cool Core and Air Dial. For users who want app control and concentrate capability without flagship investment, the IQC is the right choice.

How it compares to the Pax 3

The IQ3 offers a removable battery, more granular temperature control, the Cool Core cooling advantage, and the zirconia/glass vapor path. The Pax 3 uses a stainless steel chamber, which adds subtle character that the IQ3's ceramic/glass path avoids. For flavor-focused users, the IQ3 is the stronger device.
